| Irritations and happiness. |

Things that have irritated me in the past week:
*This quote from Ben Stein re:Expelled - "When we just saw that man, I think it was Mr. [PZ] Myers, talking about how great scientists were, I was thinking to myself the last time any of my relatives saw scientists telling them what to do they were telling them to go to the showers to get gassed."
*Global warming deniers on the Virtual Horse Ranch fora.
*Some person also on the VHR fora going 'olol my betta iz FINE in a crappy little bowl'. And then, when someone more in the culture than me went 'uhhh no here's why', going 'U IZ OPPRESSIN MEEEE!!!! WEBSITES SAY IT'S FINE!!!! UR HURTIN MY FEEEEEELINNNNNNS'.
*Getting read as "So you're saying Einstein was stupid?" when I commented that humans, as a species, are stupid and lazy. (Which we are, if'n you ask me. Some exceptions, but on the whole? Yeah. It's not bad, not good, just a feature of the species. Crowds don't like change, don't like what goes against their cherished opinions, and will let the rest of the pack do the dirty work if they can get away with it.)
*Forgetting a couple of assignments in a couple classes. Can make up, but.
Things that have made me happy in the past week:
*Getting "Sand" and "Blue" into the Kiger Mustang breed on VHR.
*Brawl's remix of a certain Pokémon theme.
*This thread re:the Ben Stein quote up top.
*Buying various songs, from my childhood and from recent interests, on iTunes.
I think that I will nail some CPUs to the wall in Brawl tonight while I study for the weekly Bio quiz. |

| THE TRAIN IS TOO BIG also Team Rocket |
[Mar. 29th, 2008|10:39 am] |
So hey I guess I forgot to post this?
In "Brothers Under the Sun Melee", the clip where Samus fights Ridley in the Melee intro was represented by Spirit vs. Train-falling-down-the-mountain. So, naturally, I joked about this after the credits, using Meta Ridley's theme during them specifically so I could.
After this, I tried stapling the Brawl remix of Ridley's theme to the scene a lark, and, bizarrely enough, it actually works pretty well in my opinion. The train really is too big!
In unrelated fanvid news, I guess "Spirit Joins Team Rocket" suddenly became kinda popular? It's currently got 17 faves - the most of any of my vids - and shot up to 767 views, the most of any of my Spirit vids. o.o |

| Relief for phantom limb pain? |
[Mar. 20th, 2008|12:31 am] |
You guys this is awesome.
You know phantom limbs, right? When an amputee feels like the amputated limb is still there?
This is an interesting article that goes over a possible reason why that happens, as well as a possible way to fix things, at least for a bit, when the phantom limbs cramp up and so forth.
Hooray for science! :D |

Hopefully I'll be able to do up that other one to the Brawl theme during Spring Break... |

| Icons! Also issues. (Not Nikina's.) |
[Feb. 26th, 2008|07:49 pm] |
Well, I uploaded my icons, finally. Including a few I never got around to showing off at LJ - all Skiesy ones, I do believe.
Also I joined up with a cross-fandom tossed-salad RP over at LJ as Spirit (yes, Spirit: Stallion of the Cimarron Spirit). Which is awesome because xenofiction, yeah! And by this time next week I'll be giving a presentation on the Bureau of Land Management's management of wild/feral horses on the Plains, taking no sides in the whole "Conserve a Symbol of the West"/"Eradicate an invasive species" debate.
For the record, at this point I'm not entirely sure of my own opinions on the matter. Which is, uh, part of the reason I'm doing it - it's for Biology. We have to give presentations on a controversial issue in biology, and it's not supposed to be persuasive. Since something on creationism/ID would end up being a 12-minute rant on the Flying Spaghetti Monster and cetacean slaughter would have me going "SAPIENCE! MERCURY! CULTURE =/= ASSHOLE EXCUSE!" until I got cut off, wild/feral horses seemed a nice, safe, interesting issue that won't yet cause me to froth at the mouth.
Bubbly slobber looks bad on the gradesheet, y'see. |

| Oh hai! |
[Dec. 20th, 2007|06:04 pm] |
I upgraded my blog.
...well, kinda. Unless things really go pear-shaped at LJ I'll probably at least keep posting fannish stuff there, but this is a nice backup. : ) |
